Year eight – Thrive Day
Yesterday (27/02) three of our team went to a careers day at Glosspdale School in Hadfield, Glossop.
The event was attended by about 200 year 8 students where they were given talks by various company’s on ‘pathways into work’ in their relevant areas.
Hannah Mycock, Carla Hazelwood and Kate Wright went along to tell the students about ‘pathways into Law’.
Hannah is a Solicitor in our Tax, Trusts and Estates Team (who deal with such things as Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney & probate), she qualified in 2021 after studying for a law degree at Sheffield Hallam University and completing her Legal Practice course and obtaining a Masters in Legal Practice at Sheffield University.
Carla is a Paralegal in our Family Law Team, she recently completed a law degree at The University of Law and is whilst working as a Paralegal she is also studying to become a Barrister, which she aims to achieve in September of this year.
Kate is working in our Residential Conveyancing Team and is nearing the end of her level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship, once she has completed this she will then study the longer-form level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship at which point she will move departments to become a Paralegal in our Family Team.
The team really enjoyed the afternoon, chatting with the students and answering questions.
Hannah said ” The careers guidance and work experience I had at school age really shaped my future, and so if I can answer any questions you aspiring solicitors have I am happy to help”.
